War Refugees of Fort Ontario papers, 1944-1945.

The letters contained in the War Refugees of Fort Ontario papers are photocopies of original correspondence between refugees held at the center and a local English teacher. Between August 1944 and January 1946, close to one thousand refugees from war torn Europe were placed in a temporary internment camp at Fort Ontario (Oswego, N.Y.) to await the outcome of the Second World War.
